Midweek Update 1/27/16

I know I say this a lot but, I cannot believe January is over this week! Where does time go? I swear you turn 20 and time flies :(. It makes me very sad. I know once our little girl is here it will go by even faster.
I’m already 20 weeks today! WOW! Half way there, which also makes me sad. I feel like I am going to be so excited once she is here of course, but also I will be a bit sad. It’s not just me and her anymore (this is me being selfish, but I will own up to it haha) I will have to share her. She won’t come to work with me every day as I’m talking to every single one of my clients about how excited and happy I am as I am carrying her, as she’s kicking and squirming around inside of me. It is by far the most awesome experience I will probably ever go through. I have been lucky and haven’t been sick. So I have loved being pregnant. I also thought the other day that if we only have two kids I’m already 1/4 of the way  done with my pregnancies :(. That is sad too! Ha I’m probably just super emotional right now! ……duh, yes I am!
This past weekend I got some kind of allergy/sinus crap that has been kicking my booty so that is not fun. You cannot take anything pregnant or at least I choose not to because I’m scared she’s going to come out with three eyes or something and it will be all my fault. So Tylenol it is! Monday I slept ALL DAY long so surely that rest will help and we’ll be up and going again.
I’m trying to become more organized this year and before she comes. So I made myself a cleaning schedule, I want to start and stick to, so once this babe is here I can stay on track and somewhat organized. I haven’t been able to keep up with January so hopefully February will be better!
I started feeling baby girl move at 16 weeks and she is getting stronger and stronger! Monday I told Jake I saw my stomach move. He says I was seeing things. Every night we lay in bed and he tries to feel her. I can’t wait until he can 🙂 so he can feel a portion of how I feel every day!
I bought two books for her so far, well for me. They are for her sleeping and nursing schedule. One of my sweet mommy clients told me about them.
1. 12 hours of sleep by 12 weeks
2. The baby sleep solution
I like to read how to books, self help, directional books, whatever you want to call them. I am not much of a winger haha! I think I would get way too stressed out if I just went with the flow of everything. I know I will have to with some stuff, but there is so much that at least I can feel better with filling my brain up with as much as possible.
We had two family birthdays last week Kortney, my now 22 year old sister, and Daniel, my now 27 year old brother-in-law.
Also today we get to do our 20 week sonogram, this should be fun! Sonograms are my favorite! I love watching her (now that I know she is a her) move around and seeing her arms and legs. So neat! I bet she is going to look huge at this sonogram. Last time she was only 13 weeks so there should be a significant change!
I’ll catch up with you next week on my Midweek Update!
Have a great week!!

Work Out Outline

Now that I am pregnant I am not working out as much as I was before. In the beginning I did really good I had a work out buddy and we got up every morning and went to the gym did a small amount of cardio and weights. Before that I was training for a 1/2 that I never did (because I got tired and pregnant)…. and now… I am just back to running/walking again.

I was really super tired in the beginning, but not sick, so that’s good. But I had ZERO energy! Naps are now my best friend! My poor husband, Jake does most of the house work now and I just lay around because as soon as I get home from work I am in my sweats and on our futon (because we are STILL waiting on our furniture). But, now that I’ve ran/walked 3 times this week so far I already feel more energized so hopefully I can stick with this. I want to do atleast 4 times a week and do some strength training maybe 2 days a week.

I’ve been asked by a few of my family members to write them a workout regimen. So I’m going to put together a little something for all of you that have the same New Year’s Resolution as the rest of the world and me haha. TO GET IN AND STAY IN SHAPE.

Also I am not a personal trainer, nor am I certified to tell you what to do. So, you read this and take what you want out of it. Not every program works the same for everyone. This one did for me and it’s super easy to do on your own with a big shove of motivation. For now I’m just making a worded post. In the future I will do one where you can work out at home and just use light weights and resistance bands. (which is what I will have to do with this baby girl 🙂 ) So that will come later!

So this is on a four day work out plan.

Pick four days that you will stick to if you can so you can hold yourself accountable each week. I also like to walk on my off days if you feel like you need to be active every day.

Cardio workouts are listed below in the outline.

Day 1
20-40 minutes of cardio (depending on how much time you have and allow yourself for workout)
Bi/Tri
Biceps- find three things that you want to do with your biceps. If you are in a gym you can walk around to all the machines and they should tell you which muscle groups they work on.
Do 3 sets of 12-15 reps. Start with lighter weight and add each time if you can. If it’s not burning it’s not working ;).
Triceps- same as above but with your triceps.

Day 2
20 minutes of cardio
Legs
I like to do 4 different machines or work outs with my legs. The third can be your calves. ( I always forget about those little suckers)

Day 3
20 minutes of cardio (this is the easier day so you can do a longer cardio if you want)
Shoulders
Find 3 different workouts/machines for your shoulders and do 3 sets of 12-15.

Day 4
20 minutes of cardio
Chest/Back
Chest- Find 3 machines and do 3 sets of 12-15. (same as you did with tri and bi)
Back- 3 sets of 12-15 on 3 different machines or work outs.

Cardio examples-
Walk
Run
Swim
Elliptical (My absolute least favorite)
Bike

If you are on a treadmill and want a change you can do a HIIT = which stands for High Intensity Interval Training where you are burning more fat. You can run or sprint for 30 seconds then walk for 1 minute. Doing this for 8 rounds. If this is too easy you can increase the length of your run/sprint and do 1 minute. There are tons of these examples online for you to look up also.

Do more cardio if you need to lose more fat. Do the suggested amount of cardio if you want to maintain and build muscle AKA “toning”. But be careful because if you are skinny already and working out to build muscle you may need very little cardio or else you will start losing your muscle and then becoming a stick.

You also want to make sure you are on a good diet. When I say diet I don’t mean eat that way to look good for a certain amount of time and then fall off the wagon. It is so disheartening to me when people are like “why are you on a diet?” or “oh you must be on a diet” A diet to me is a lifestyle of eating habits. You choose how you want to feel by what you are putting into your body. I eat whataburger, chic fil a, and taco casa, oh yes I do! I also feel awful afterwards too! haha. So if you get into the habit of eating better you will not crave bad food as often and when you do you will feel awful after eating it because your body is like “what are you putting in me!” And don’t get me wrong especially being pregnant I eat a lot of desserts! This baby loves the sweets and so do I. Just find your perfect balance.

Also when I was training for the 1/2 I can tell you that there were some days I wasn’t getting enough carbs in. I would get very light headed and dizzy. Make sure if you feel this way you talk to someone who knows enough about nutrition to help you. Like I said I am not a nutritionist and everything stated above are only opinions I have.

Hope you like this :).

Baby Marshall

We try to take a pic with the show dogs … and typical, they think we are giving them treats.

My Daddy of 4 daughters and 1 step daughter may or may not be secretively wanting a boy. Probably not haha! He would never say if he was anyways!
All of my sisters
If you have been following my Instagram you’ve seen we are expecting a new addition to our family! We are so excited! It’s so crazy that one day it’s just Jake and me an the next we will have a baby! Half me and half him!! (scary haha)
We announced it to our parents and siblings with our dogs. Poor puppies haven’t the clue what is coming. I ordered these shirts an XXL I guess they are for breeds like Katey Mcfarlan’s dog (a 2 pound Maltipoo) haha because they clearly fit my 90+ lb labs like muscle shirts. HAHA
We found out on a Sunday and moved into our house that Friday and had everyone over!
We find out Saturday(TOMORROW!) what the gender is. We are doing a “gender reveal” and I am sooo super excited!  We decided to pop a balloon with colored confetti in it so we shall see how this goes. My cousin / best friend will know the sex and that is it! I’m sure she will feel the pressure. I know her family is already pressing her for info. I’m super excited to let her know before we do, we are the same age (2 months apart to be exact) and have grown up together. She graduates PA (Physician’s Assistant) school in May and Baby Marshall is due in June so it’s perfect timing! Except I won’t be able to fly to New Mexico to watch her graduate because I will be about to pop.
Last week I was 15 weeks pregnant and I would say that’s when my belly started to feel “pregnant” and not just look like a beer belly or feel bloated. Baby Marshall is letting my belly take pregnant form now…. I’m kind of excited to look pregnant. It is awkward and I do try on ten outfits a day before I decide “Oh yeah I guess I don’t look like I’ve ate 20 cookies in this” the in-between is so hard. I’m sure when my belly gets real big I’ll be wishing I looked like 20 cookies instead of 1000 haha.
Jake is so super excited and it is so cute, awesome, emotional, and great to watch him adore this baby that has not even been born yet.  I cannot wait to see his face when he finally meets Baby Marshall.
Both of our parents will be first time grandparents along with a ton of siblings so I’m sure this baby will have it made and we (Jake and I) will be in trouble!
I haven’t gotten sick at all. The only time I gagged was when:
FUNNY AWFUL STORY
We got a Roomba for the dogs in our house. One of them had pooped inside, and the Roomba drug it across the whole house. Lets just say there is no candle that can over power that scent. 🙁
It’s been a pretty easy pregnancy so far. I was completely exhausted in the beginning, one time I fell asleep in Jake’s truck while they were loading rock for our mailbox into the bed! I never took naps before and now they are my best friend. Hats off to anyone that’s pregnant with a toddler or any other aged child!
I’m super excited for my pregnant journey and the many journeys after with Baby Marshall. Any mom’s let me know what I have to register for because that is way overwhelming and I think I need to start looking at stuff for the baby soon. I mean we find out Saturday so I will already be looking at the cute stuff! Can’t wait to meet Baby Marshall!
Due June 16!
